About Wilderness Waters Travel:

I’m Gary Merrill, and I own Wilderness Waters Travel. I am a personal fly fishing travel consultant, specializing in creating custom fly fishing adventures to the wild and remote regions of Alaska. In 1996 my wife and I bought the Royal Coachman Lodge in Bristol Bay Alaska, and thus began my long association with the “Great Land”. I am a long time Alaskan bush pilot, guide, and former Alaskan lodge owner. I have flown and guided fishermen for thousands of hours in the Alaskan bush. I’ve been a professional fly fishing guide since 1974. I have fished in remote locations all around the world, both as guide and guest, and I have developed a thorough understanding of what makes a truly great fishing operation. Wilderness Waters Travel is my way of showcasing the best of the best Alaskan lodges, lodges I’ve worked for and alongside, and sharing these remarkable places with you.
