Fred’s Coffee

Fred Boucher started Fred’s Vending Company in 1951 with a peanut machine and a dream. Throughout the next several years Fred quickly added other vending services such as soda, snacks, candy and coffee. In the early 1980’s Fred expanded the coffee service to include restaurant, convenience stores, and workplace coffee programs. Fred’s enlarged the company’s market area to include most of central and southern Maine and although the company grew rapidly by offering a number of support products, Fred never deviated from his original emphasis on quality and service. In 1988, Fred separated the vending and coffee business with his son, Don Boucher assuming ownership of the coffee business thus establishing, Fred’s Coffee Company. Upon the retirement of Fred Boucher, Don also acquired ownership of the vending business and Fred’s Vending entered the second generation of existence. In a quest to meet the ever expanding needs of Fred’s customers, point-of-use water coolers were soon added to the coffee business. In 1992, Don established, “Fred’s Beverage Company,” a fruit juice and fountain soda service that has completed a hot AND cold beverage product offering. Fred’s now serves the entire state of Maine as well as other parts of New England. From a one man show to the current multi-employee modern day company, Fred’s successfully manages to maintain its original, family-run, personal philosophy of doing business.
