I’m Gary Merrill. I own Wilderness Waters Travel. I am a personal fly fishing travel consultant, specializing in creating custom fly fishing adventures to the wild and remote regions of Alaska.

In 1996, my wife and I bought the Royal Coachman Lodge in Bristol Bay, Alaska. Thus began my long association with the “Great Land.” I am a long-time Alaskan bush pilot, guide, and former lodge owner.

I have flown and guided fishers for thousands of hours in the Alaskan bush. I’ve been a professional fly fishing guide since 1974. I fished in remote locations all around the world, both as guide and guest.

I developed a thorough understanding of what makes a truly great fishing operation. Wilderness Waters Travel is my way of showcasing the best Alaskan lodges I worked for and alongside. I’m sharing these remarkable places with you.
